Exclusive: The Devil Wears Prada is getting a sequel!
Okay, it’s a sequel to the book, not the movie — but we’re still excited. Revenge Wears Prada will pick up eight years after Andy parted ways with Miranda. Andy is now editing The Plunge, the hottest bridal magazine around, alongside Emily, her one-time Runway nemesis turned current BFF. While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables “Ahn-dre-ah!” again.

This is very interesting news

I’m worried that this movie won’t live up to the book’s glory, as is unfortunately the case with most adapted screenplays these days. I want so much in my heart for this to be a spectacular picture, but I know Baz Lurhmann. He’s a one-hit wonder (with Moulin Rouge) and nothing he’s ever made (not even Romeo + Juliet) will ever be as good. This film boasts an incredible cast, and it holds incredible potential, but I’m scared nonetheless. The Great Gatsby is a classic and a novel I hold very dear, so it’s only natural that I worry. I love Mr. Luhrmann, and I know he is a visionary. I can only hope he does the novel justice.

My thoughts as well. Although, I can’t help but be excited! *fingers crossed*

From Battleground to Wonderland: Embracing the Awesome Woman Within

Lately there has been a lot of talk about the “war on women.” From weight- and slut-shaming to the political jockeying regarding our healthcare, it seems as though everyone has an opinion when it comes to the female body and what you as a woman are allowed
to do with it.

However, before we pick up our swords and march against shock jocks and congressmen for their contempt and policing of female anatomy, we should look around the trenches at the faces of those who are helping perpetuate the ‘trash talk’ being tossed around about our gender.

That’s right; a major opponent in this war is us. And instead of fueling the fire when it comes to this battle we need to start lifting each other up as the incredible sisters, daughters, friends, mothers, etc. that we are and stop attacking each other.

Because if we learned nothing else from 2004’s Mean Girls it should be these two amazing facts:

1. That we have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it ok for guys to call us sluts and whores.

2. Calling somebody else fat won’t make you any skinnier and calling someone stupid doesn’t make you any smarter. All you can do in life is to try to solve the problem in front of you.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t think a bunch of men should be allowed to decide anything when it comes to our bodies unless that person is John Mayer circa 2002 because my body is in fact a wonderland and should be respected. However, we should be solving the problem in front of us first. This starts with embracing the awesomeness within every woman instead of helping to tear her down - even if she can find boots that fit her calves.
